St John’s Church Hall

The hall was built in 1969 in the grounds of St John’s Church, Chapel Hill, Stansted Mountfitchet, with funds specifically provided by Mr Charles Hill and his wife Josephine.

At the time of the Hall’s construction, one of the prospective tenants was the Stansted Badminton Club so the main hall was built sufficiently large with a high ceiling to accommodate a badminton court. The Club remained a loyal tenant and friend for 35 years until it had to close in 2005.

Extensively refurbished and re-roofed and extended in  2003/04 with funding from private donations and substantial financial support from the Brett Environmental Trust [check name], the Hall comprises:

  • Entrance Lobby
  • Function Room
  • Committee Room
  • Kitchen
  • Toilets
  • Store Room
  • Benefice Office (upstairs)

The Hall is available for hire and enquiries should be directed to the Booking Secretary:
